Basic Info
Stumptown Poker is a local, independent poker league dedicated to providing the best poker experience possible outside of a casino. We currently play at 5 different venues throughout the week and two of them run twice for a total of 9 live Stumptown Poker events a week, none of them with a buy in (one weekly online game on Full Tilt too, with a meager 5$ entry fee- but that technically take place in Barbados).
All events are %100 free to play and no advance registration is necessary, just show up a half hour before the game starts to claim an early chip and take advantage of some of our host venues great happy hours.
If you take a moment to check out our leaderboard at chipstak.com, you’ll see that we track the points venue by venue. This means that every player has a chance to become point leader for their favorite venue which earns bonus points (10,000 extra in chips at our quarterly Series Final– Not bad considering the blinds start at 100/200).
The way the league works is pretty simple, and everybody has a chance to win. All of our games award points based on your finish, the number of players, and the type of game it is.
We have three types of games at Stumptown that you can earn points in– The main tournament is the first tournament of the night and the one in which everybody plays. Depending on the size and/or popularity of a venue this can range from 10 to well over 50 players. All main tournaments pay 10 places no matter what the size of the field.
Sometime after the Main Tournament starts, enough players will become available for the next game we play–the Sit and Go, which is a single table tournament that starts when enough players are ready to “sit and go.”
At each and every venue we run at least one Sit and Go a night and often as many as three. When you bust out of the main tournament you only have to find the sign up sheet for the next game, put your name down on it and you’re ready . If it looks like it’s going to take a few minutes, ask for a deck of cards and find somebody to play our next type of game. . . the heads up match.
All three game types award points, and every quarter the number of points a player has is multiplied by 20– and that tells us how many chips that player will be starting with at our Final tournament where all of our top prizes are awarded. These have included fully paid trips to Las Vegas, Tournament Buy-Ins, Poker Equipment, Kegs of beer, you name it!
Since at the series final all the points accumulated are redeemed for extra chips, the players who have won the most points have the best chance to win the top prizes– but as we all know, nothing is ever certain in poker.
Thank you for visiting our website and if you have any questions please write to us at info@stumptownpoker.com, and if you would like to recieve our weekly newsletter mention that and we’ll add you. Hope to play with you soon,
The Stumptown Poker Crew
